Food Styling

A food stylist is responsible for the presentation of the food. They must pay attention to detail, and make decisions about the props that are included and how these affect the overall theme.

Stylists can use techniques such as the following to enhance the appearance of the food:

- creating steam

- spraying food with water, syrup etc.

- use of browning agents to enhance meats and poultry

- use of cream instead of milk in cereal shots (to prevent cereal from becoming soggy too quickly)

- undercooking vegetables so they do not become wrinkled

- use of artificial acrylic ice cubes in beverages

- adding water to beverages to ''add sparkle''
